Adriane Doherty is the author of more than 10 children’s books, including the Sweet Dreams and My First Alphabet series. Through her stories, she aspires to help young readers grow to learn about the people and places around them. She travels across the continental US to find inspiration and enjoys bringing these places to life in her books. Kimberly Karzen is a former educator with 25+ years of experience in her field. She currently works at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL. Kimberly grew up in a very small town in Iowa. She attended Indiana University and ran Cross Country/Indoor/Outdoor track on scholarship. After completing her degree in Marketing at IU she went on to get her teaching certification and master’s in education. Kimberly is also a 500-hour certified registered yoga teacher. Michael A. Homoya
Michael one two authors for Wake Up, Woods. He is a botanist and plant ecologist, and works for Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Nature Preserves. He has been a botanist and plant ecologist for the Indiana DNR Natural Heritage Program since 1982. He is also adjunct faculty for Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IN.
Rebecca Mullin is an avid gardener, bookseller, and mother of four young girls. Rebecca wrote One Tomato to recreate the joy of picking home-grown vegetables and to teach her children to identify the vegetables they grow and eat. She worked at Kids Ink Children’s Bookstore in Indianapolis, IN for eleven years and was a Board Member of the Great Lakes Independent Bookseller Association for three years. Shane is one of two authors for Wake Up, Woods. He has been in education for more than 20 years, and writing poetry for more than 25 years. His immersion in nature early in life grew into a life-long passion for the outdoors. With degrees in environmental science and elementary education from Indiana University, Shane enjoys blending his love of the outdoors, writing, and literature. Shane lives in Indiana.
Nikki Esarey, originally from Louisville, Kentucky, grew up in Edwardsville, Indiana. Some of her earliest memories are of her mom taking the kids to the New Albany Floyd County Library for story-time. She moved to a farm in Leavenworth, Indiana where there were cattle, horses, goats, dogs, cats, and a hairy old Shetland pony named Sam. In 1999, she went to work at the Crawford County Public Library in English, Indiana coordinating children’s programming. She soon transferred to the Breeden Memorial Library. In 2010, she went to work for the Harrison County Public Library in Corydon where she still works and continues to do story-time and other children’s programs. Nikki currently splits her time living between Edwardsville and the family farm in Leavenworth, Indiana.
